The course in Electrical Engineering aims at providing adequate knowledge of the scientific.-professional methods and content and an educational level enabling access to the labour market, and in the following specific areas: implementation, operation and control of electrical plants, implementation and operation of automatic industrial systems, use of electric power in the civil and industrial field, transformation of renewable energy sources in electric power, application of industrial electronics to power systems. The region is expressing a growing demand in these professional areas.
The education of an electrical engineering is based upon.
- Adequate Knowledge of the methodological-operational aspects of mathematics, physics and computer science for interpreting and describing electrical engineering issues,
- Knowledge of technical physics, electrical engineeri8ng, electronics and construction theory;
- Professional skills in the field of electric power systems, machines, and electric activations, industrial electronics and industrial automation;
- Capability of identifying, formulating and solving the typical problems of electrical engineering, through the use of consolidated as well as innovative methods, techniques and tools;
- Capability of designing, implementing ad managing electrical and electronic installations and systems in the industry.
The training in Electrical Engineering entails the achievement, after the first three years, of the degree with specific profiles which enable the access to further 2nd cycle degree courses.
The structure of the course provides a wide range of variability (53-83) in electrical engineering credits as well as an equally wide range of variability (18 - 42) of the credits in related and supplementary training on the other hand enabling therefore to obtain, within the common declared educational objectives, differentiated professional training, strongly linked to the needs of industrial development of Sicily.
The educational objectives of the degree course aim at the solution of all problems which are typical of electrical engineering:
- Design and construction of electrical equipment, installations and systems , through the use of updated methods, techniques and tools;
- Design and construction of electronic systems and equipment supporting industrial automation , through the use of updated methods, techniques and tools;
- Testing of electrical and electronic equipment and analysis and interpretation of relevant outcomes;
- Management and of automated plants, goods and services and quality control of the production in the automation and industrial electronic sectors;
- Testing of conformity of electrical and electronic systems to the state of the art;
- Conversion of renewable energy sources in electric power;
- Use of electric power;
