Course info
The Degree Course in Digital Enterprise Innovation Engineering aims at training first level engineers with sound basic engineering knowledge and with specialized, digital and economic-managerial skills enabling them to manage production and organizational processes, to design and implement services and products, in public and private companies characterized by a wide use of digital technologies. Students are given the skills needed to solve technical, IT, economic, managerial, and organizational problems through typical engineering tools, with a general preparation sufficient to acquire and quickly adapt, even independently, their training to the changing needs of the labour market. The Degree Course offers a flexible educational path combining basic scientific knowledge with technological innovation, to train experts of digital innovation, namely in the areas of management engineering and computer engineering. The educational project is based on a solid training, involving the acquisition of knowledge and skills concerning the basic disciplines typical of engineering such as calculus, geometry, physics, as well as the foundations of computer science. Particularly important are the disciplines closely related to the peculiarities of the profession, enabling students to fully understand the regulatory, economic, and managerial aspects of companies, such as digital markets economics and law, quality management and product development. The educational project also gives the opportunity to deeply investigate aspects related to the design and operation of the processes characterising a service supply chain, and to business economics. Students will acquire solid skills enabling them to identify the best technical and algorithmic solutions to define new processes and products. Specific attention is given to the skills that will enable graduates to bring innovation into companies with strong digital vocation, thanks to the ability to design software systems, to understand the functioning of the internet, and to use the main machine learning technologies. The educational project also gives the opportunity to deepen aspects related to operating systems and databases and to acquire specialist knowledge and skills in the programming of software systems.
Profile: Digital Enterprise Innovation Engineer Functions: Graduates in Digital Enterprise Innovation Engineering provide an answer to the needs of soft skills increasingly required by the labour market and represents a multifaceted professional figure, with solid technical and methodological groundings that, thanks to the engineering approach to problems is able to understand and manage business phenomena, as well as to design and implement company processes and services through the effective use of the most advanced digital technologies. Graduates in Digital Enterprise Innovation Engineering possess high technical and professional skills expendable in support of industrial and service companies, or on the market as a high level business consultant for the design and management of complex public and private organizational processes, characterized by a wide use of information technologies. Skills: - Programming in high level languages; - Design of problem solving procedures; - Economic and financial evaluation of investment alternatives; - Quality control and new product development methodologies; - Modelling, analysis, simulation and control of systems. Professional opportunities: Graduates in Digital Enterprise Innovation Engineering may have access to the labour market by choosing from a wide range of possibilities: from industrial to service companies, from public administration to finance, from consultancy to entrepreneurial activity, from companies having the production of digital products as their core business, to those exploiting new information technologies as a tool to innovate their production processes. In addition, the acquired qualification allows access to the 2nd cycle degree courses in the Management Engineering and Computer Engineering classes.
To obtain the degree, students must have acquired 180 credits including those relating to the final examination (3 credits). The final test has the objective of assessing the level of maturity and critical skills of the undergraduate, with respect to learning and to acquired knowledge, on completion of the activities provided by the course syllabus. The final examination consists of a written or oral test, in accordance with the rules fixed every year by the Degree Course Regulations for the final examination, respecting and consistent with the calendar, the ministerial requirements and the relevant Guidelines of the University.
